AGM & Birding Weekend, 2 - 4 May 2009

Saturday 2 May

10:00 am Morning Tea and Committee Meeting in Paluma Community Hall

Provide own lunch.

2:00 - 4:00 pm AGM in Paluma Community Hall

All positions will have nominated persons prior to the meeting.  Nominations can be made by contacting Ivor, the secretary, prior to the meeting or from the floor on the day. Afternoon tea will be provided.


Birding Saturday Afternoon - Eucalyptus grandis Forest and Puzzle Creek

Saturday Dinner

Pot-luck in the Community Hall - all attending bring a plate to share. Speaker Ian Montgomery “Birds of Alaska” slide show and talk.

Morning Walks at your Leisure

9:00 am Birding

Departure from Community Hall car park to allow car pooling

7:30 pm Birders Dinner at Rainforest Inn Restaurant.

A La Carte. Speaker - Alan Gillanders  “Why Birding is Good for You” slide show and talk. Please advise numbers for the dinner to bsnewin@bigpond.com.

Own choice. Please make contact as soon as possible as rooms are limited and it is a long weekend. 

Paluma Dreaming

Contact - Kev Rebgetz, phone:  07 4770 8616; mobile 0418 727 635. All rooms have double & 1 single bed. Bunkhouse room (shared amenities) $80 per room per night. Ensuite rooms -$ 120 per room per night. Camping - $ 10 -15 per site un-powered, on grassed area near amenities.


Rainforest Inn Motel and Restaurant

Rooms have 1 queen and 2 singles in downstairs units , 1 queen and 1 single upstairs units. All have own  bathroom with toilet in the same room; tea making facilities. Cost  per room $125 per night for 2; $10.00 for extra person.

Paluma Rainforest cottages

Two cottages, both with kitchens; cost per couple $135 per night (minimum stay 3 nights); $20 per night per extra person. Fatima Cottage can sleep 5: 2 in a queen room, 2 singles in a second bedroom and a day bed in lounge. One bathroom with toilet in a separate room. Mt Spec Cottage can sleep 5: 2 in a queen room plus a second queen, and a single on the verandah - need to move through main bed room and verandah to front patio. One bathroom with toilet in same room.
